They test the children to see if there are special needs to be addressed and that is usually how they qualify for the Public Preschool. Boomer will attend the same private one that Goosie did.
Here they, then, go to Kindergarten (age 5) in Public school or private. Our public school is very good so we chose public... plus, private is expensive.
Preschool is a bit of play but they leave knowing how to write their names, colors, numbers, letters, etc. I work a lot at home with them so Quinn is already learning his "sight" words... he has turned it into a game and loves to learn more and more.Goosie and Boomer Bowtiquehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05200851002993739158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6049365464370947085.post-20714717155267769082010-07-23T13:30:26.391-05:002010-07-23T13:30:26.391-05:00Amazing! I wonder what the biggest difference between your preschool and ours is? Is your preschool very "schooly" or is it mostly play? Over here you go to daycare which they call preschool from age 1 (can't start before 1 but parents decide when to start) and the year you turn 6 is when you begin what we call "preschool class" which is more schooly than the other years. They don't just play all those years, they do introduce letters, numbers etc etc but in a very playful way.

This August Elvira begins grade 1. This is the real thing. Now she starts school - the mandatory school. Up until now it has all been up to us... Huge step. She is now entering the system and she can't get out for a very long time. Scary.
