Cake... YUM!

Our sweet neighbor had a birthday this past weekend. I was so lucky to celebrate it with her and another dear friend. I have to say... I have GREAT neighbors! We sat on the patio with Mai Tai's, snacks and cake and sun! Mrs. Tricia loves the sun and fun so I had an excuse to make the "flip flop" cake! Happy Birthday, Mrs. Tricia!

CAKE!!!!

Our sweet friend, Mrs. Jessica, had a birthday yesterday! Soooo... it was an excuse to make a cake ;).

Here is her chocolate mocha almond cake with dark chocolate covered espresso beans, chocolate curls and toasted ground almonds...

I met Mrs. Jessica at the new spouses orientation at the Air Force base when we moved here to the Midwest.

She and her husband have become dear friends to us!

Biggest Challenge for me...

This cake was my biggest challenge ever! I made it for some very special twins and their parents! There is not one thing on this cake that isn't edible... except for the cup... the inside of the cup is painted with white chocolate, stuffed with marshmallows and then fondant on top. It was for a "Milk and Cookies" birthday party. The cake was made to replicate the invitation made by the very special Mommy! Even the plate is made of fondant!
We had a grand time at the party and I was able to do over 230 photographs (STILL EDITING) and then a family photo shoot back at their house. Yes, it was quite a busy time... the cake was approximately a three day project... the cookies were made of fondant and then chocolate chunks were placed in and on each cookie. So... if I'm not reading blogs... I'm taking pics and baking cakes :)

Where have I been?

Well... I have been a little busy... as I am sure YOU ALL have been as well! What a crazy season!

Leo and I had volunteered to make many things for his work Christmas Party so we have been running around like crazy people.

AND... Goosie had her school Christmas party, Nana and Pop Pop arrived, we had dinner at a friend's house last night... it was sooo nice not to cook!

This was the cake I made for Leo's party and for the first time... I cheated and used "non-edible" things on the cake. There just wasn't enough hours in my day to do otherwise!

I hope to continue to blog frequently with many creations... but if my hopes are diminished with spending time with my family, which I am soooo happy to see, then I will be back soon!
