Summer is OFFICIALLY here in the Goosie and Boomer House!

The ballet recital was yesterday and what a wonderful time! This is Goosie's second recital and I was so thrilled to be a part of this event.
Now, this means... I have no obligations until August!!!!! I do not HAVE to be anywhere unless we want to be there :).
ahhhh... I see pajama days, lazy days, and giveaways coming soon!
Today was the first day in weeks that I have been able to open the windows without dying of heat exhaustion, too! What a great way to "open" Summer!

New Addition to G&B

Necklaces!!!!
(I think I would like to call them the "T-shirt Necklace")
These necklaces would go great with any cute shirt but what a way to dress up that casual, plain Tshirt!!!
The are made with leather lace, jump rings, and clasp!
The leaf necklace was a gift for my sister-in-law's birthday... I hope she loved it!
Owls are big this year and I'm sporting the owl and he will be great for Halloween :).

Busy, Busy, Busy...

WOW! What a week! We have accomplished a great deal this week here in the Goosie and Boomer household! Goosie had her first eye appointment and it was VERY positive! She loved the eye doctor and that was the biggest hurdle! Boomer had his physical for Preschool... I had my follow up with my doctor and have been referred to a neurosurgeon! And... Goosie has had her rehearsal for her ballet recital!

I am proud to say that I made all the hairbows and shoe bows for the girls! They look sooo adorable in their outfits and have worked very hard on this performance! We are heading towards a busy weekend but it will be totally worth the chaos!

Tomorrow and Inner Turmoil

Tomorrow... the MR. and I will face a beast we have battled and held behind enemy lines many times before. Only this time... I believe the beast will need to brought to the attention of others as we will need their assistance in this battle.

I see the doctor tomorrow... was in the hospital last week. The area around my spinal cord is narrowing more and we will need to obtain referrals... a couple, a few... we will see.

I am sad. It will pass. Picking up Goosie and Boomer for enormous hugs and sloppy kisses has become more difficult with each passing moment.

I am a fighter. You have to fight for yourself so that people listen. Sometimes, it is difficult to realize that doctors are humans, too. I will research, list, call, reiterate... whatever it takes at this point.

I am tired. This will be my third neurosurgeon in two years. I am heading towards my second rheumatologist, too. Facts and observations are to be repeated many times again. You become a list of symptoms and diagnosis'.

I am in love... with the man that holds my hand each time. He is the fighter by my side.
with my children. They deserve a Mom that can run in the backyard or drive a million errands without thought of the consequences of pain in the following days.

I am a creator... so don't think for one moment that there won't be more postings :)

You Scream... Ice Cream SOCIAL!

cupcake toppers made with the assistance of the Cricut :)
Yummy toppings!

Simple decorations... topic of this post!

This year the MR. and I decided to host an ice cream social for his office. And... we decided to plan it in a week and a half... normally, I like a month :)... that's because nothing can be simple with me for some reason.
We had done some very easy decorations one year for Halloween and believe it or not... they made the move last Summer. I revamped them for this party and it is a very simple outdoor decoration!
All you need is:
mason jar
sand
ribbon
raffia
skewers
hot glue
shapes cut from paper or one of these cute fans
(the fans came from Oriental Trading and the ice cream cone shape was from my Cricut)

Tie raffia around the top of the mason jar/then do the same with the ribbon.
Fill the jar with sand (play sand will do just fine... and it's on sale this time of year)
Hot glue paper shapes or fan to a skewer and then stick into the sand
Now, I don't suggest you do this on a windy day and then put them near food...
it could make the food a bit gritty to say the least :).
I, also, printed out the word "welcome" on some card stock, cut it out, and tied it with some gardening string.
If you need lots of outdoor adornments, you can do a dozen in no time at all... and if you shop around for the jars... it is inexpensive, too!

The Boomer Project

I am CONSTANTLY making items for the Goose! So... it was Boomer's turn this time. I had bought some fleece at Hobby Lobby on the clearance rack and planned to make some scarves for the winter months but... I decided to applique a shirt I had bought for Boomer. He loves airplanes and since we live near the Air Force Base we see tons of planes go over the house. On the front of the shirt there are two planes and then on the back a big "Q"! I fill with happiness every time he wants to wear his "airplane shirt." It was a very simple project and I used embroidery floss around the edges to ensure it stayed on securely (even though I used Heat N' Bond) because he is ALL boy!
On another note, we survived yesterday's weather... only to go through big thunderstorms last night. It looks as if we are in for round two today!
I will be announcing the first giveaway for the "new" Goosie and Boomer Bowtique on Friday!

We interrupt this blog...

for a weather post...

Last Monday, while at ballet, we experienced our first tornado here in the Midwest. It really could be the last one I experience. A storm came swift and fast and there weren't sirens this time. However, I'm not sure there are sirens in that area because we weren't home. We were all huddled in the hallway of Goosie's ballet studio. Boomer was home with the MR. in our basement... the MR. was calling us with the report that the tornado was right over our area.
Once we heard things were clear... we headed home and saw wrecks, telephone poles that looked as if they were lifted and then put down carefully. It was bizarre. If you know me, I was terrified to move here because of the weather. After seeing barns destroyed, metal wrapped around trees, and a home reduced to one little room (the room that the 80 year old couple was huddled in for safety and SURVIVED!), I didn't leave the house for a couple of days.
The MR. told me the sky turned green that day. I missed that... and I'm quite glad.
So... why the post... um...
It isn't looking very good for us today in the weather department.
Am I prepared??????? Yes!!!!!!!!!!! The MR. and I are ready... but are you really ever ready?

Gone tutu long...

I believe I was gone just tutu long...

But, I'm back :)
This tutu set was made for a sweet little girl... her mother works with the MR. and she loves ladybugs. The ladybug tutu is now one of my favorites but the headband... a dress up dream!
It is incredibly difficult these days to find dress up clothes for a Kindergarten aged child and tutus are the perfect way to dream of being a ballerina!
I am beginning to work on Halloween orders. I know that sounds crazy in June... but, I will be featuring a "Harvest Ballerina" tutu in the next few weeks. Goosie has requested, also, a mermaid tutu... so that won't be far behind. If you are interested in a one of a kind tutu for this Halloween or simply for dress up, please feel free to leave a comment and I will get back to you ASAP!
AND... to the loyal readers... WELCOME!
