Just when you thought people weren't giving this year... there was a cookie drive at the Air Force Base where Leo works. It was for all the young men and women that live in the dorms. The goal was to personally deliver 1/2 dozen cookies to each member living in the dorms....
THEY COLLECTED 12,000 COOKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND...
IT WAS OTHER MILITARY MEMBERS THAT BAKED THEM!
There were so many cookies that they were taking them to the offices that were working around the clock. Our children were able to enjoy some of the homebaked cookies, too!
What a wonderful thing!
AMAZING, ACTUALLY!
These young men and women live in the dorms and many are NOT going home for the holidays!
We are lucky enough to sponsor two right now!
So... here are the words...
"THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!"

That is awesome! I wrote on my blog about the Toys 4 Tots. I am hoping one person can give a toy or get rid of a used toy to help them out. It was on the news the other night how tough the economy is that it has been hard to fill those boxes this year. People are so giving in this world. One of the later reports said how since the airing of the situation on the news, people have made incredible donations and their entire list of families were met for the year. I forget what state that was in but it was nice to read about. Just like the newscaster said, that mirrored my thoughts, Every child should have a gift to open on Christmas Day." Even in these hard times, people as so giving. It is so nice to see people baked for others to have something also when they are away from home. God is good!
Hey! I read your post! God is certainly good... even when we doubt sometimes if he is there for us!
You know Leo and I... we give as much as we can when we can :).
Thank Goodness, too, for the Marines and their program! Leo and I suggest the Fisher House, too.
It only takes something small...
Love,
Hilary
